Brimstone Devlog 10 (Alexis)

Hello again, I'm back with another devlog for The Brimstone.

During the time since the last devlog, I have done the rigging and some of the animations for our demon enemy, Furcas. For this devlog, I will be talking about my experience with rigging Furcas. After I got the lowpoly from Creature, I was going to use Mixamo but due to one reason or another, it was not coming out right. After trying for a while, I decided to just rig it in Maya.

After placing all the bones of the rig, I then bind the skin to them. After binding the skin, I start placing NURBS circles to use as controls to be better able to animate. Next I looked at how the weight paint was and what i need to fix due to joints influencing parts it was not supposed to. After cleaning the weight painting, I test the joints by placing Furcas in different poses and continue to fix the weight paint. After all that, I began to animate him, along with another member on my team, Hunter.

I've did the animation for when the demon spawn in and out. I also did two animations for when Furcas catches the player, but due to time, it was cut.

I am happy with how the rig came out and hope to continue to improve in rigging and animation. Thank you for reading my last devlog for The Brimstone. I hope you all enjoy The Brimstone.
